The SICK RE13-SAC is part of the SICK RE1 series and is designed for applications where reliable monitoring of protective devices is required. Unlike conventional mechanical safety switches that rely on physical movement between switching components, the RE13-SAC uses a non-contact magnetic sensing principle. This allows the safety switch to detect the position of a compatible magnetic actuator without requiring mechanical contact between the two components.

The non-contact design helps reduce mechanical wear during repeated opening and closing of machine doors, covers, and protective guards. This makes the RE13-SAC particularly suitable for industrial equipment where safety doors may be operated frequently during production, maintenance, inspection, or material handling operations. The sensor provides an Assured Switch-On Distance (Sao) of 7 mm and an Assured Switch-Off Distance (Sar) of 20 mm. Proper installation and alignment of the switch and actuator are important for reliable operation.

The RE13-SAC also features an IP67 protection rating, making it suitable for demanding industrial environments. When correctly installed, the IP67 rating provides protection against dust ingress and temporary water immersion. This makes the safety switch appropriate for applications where industrial machinery may be exposed to dust, moisture, cleaning processes, or other environmental conditions.
